Home Pregnancy Test Result

ORIGINAL POST
Posted by Chy 20 yrs ago
I just did a home pregnancy test with Clearblue. The results showed positive (+) but the line running across is very faint, while the one running vertical is very prominently blue, I suppose that's still considered positive right? If negative it would only show a (-)with no vertical line running through. Should I do another one a couple of days or take it as it is?

It may be faint because the HCG hormone levels in your urine are low at the moment - ie the test might have been performed a little early. Leave it another couple of days and if no period, test again. Good Luck!

It's most probably positive, they usually say to disregard the lightness or darkness of the line. If there is a line then it means your pregnant. But yes the HCG hormone levels may be low at the moment so that's why it's faint. Wait a few days and test again and make sure you test with the first urine sample of the day when the hormone levels are most concentrated.

I understand that there is no such thing as a false positive, so this is fantastic! Here's to you seeing a heartbeat in the next couple of weeks!

Thank you so much! I'm stressing over how I should break the news to my boss as I'm suppose to be starting a new job next week. This is really unexpected as we've been trying for 2 frustrating years and all of a sudden seeing that positive sign is a little overwhelming, that's why I wasn't sure and doubted the result. The only way I'm can sit back and enjoy the experience now will depend on how my boss will react to this news. Fingers crossed!!!

Lots of articles out there Chy, that can give you some advice on going about this:

Its a difficult situation, but luckily HK has laws preventing discrimination of pregnant women.

Thank you so much firstimemom, am going to the doctor to confirm everything early next week, so still have some time to dwell on the matter. I think when it comes to the crunch, the baby is my first priority!

Hi chy,

I'm so happy for you. As tillu said, a line is a line, so don't worry now, you can look for another job later if your boss will not be happy about it ;-) Take care. Oh, by the way, did you take any herbs, drugs, or whatever to help you become preggy?

Wow, congratulations..... I'm so excited for you! I'm sure your boss will take it well. It's not uncommon for pregnant women to be working here in HK. Where I work, I've seen 3 women go through their pregnancy and return to their jobs 8 weeks after giving birth...quite amazing!

Thank you all for your kind wishes! To honeypie, my husband and I usually make an effort to get to work at least twice during my ovulation period, regardless of whether I notice the clear sticky like discharge that occurs during ovulation. It's not difficult to spot but sometimes we get so caught up in our stressful and busy life that we choose to ignore it or simple don't notice it at all. I always thought that the discharge would appear and stay for more than one day during ovulation but for me it only occured once. If I recall correctly, we went to work on the actual day and that did it I suppose. I use to think that regardless of the discharge, as long as you're ovulating that the chances of conceiving is high but now I think you really have to get to work on that particular day. Other than this, I don't use any other method. You're probably already doing this but I found that charting temperature didn't work for me.

To macaroon mania & narnia; thanks for your recommendation, will defintely go out to get the book! I'm sure my boss won't be thrilled about the news but I can understand from her point of view, it will take some time to digest. Hopefully the pregnancy won't get in the way of work, i.e. morning sickness would be a major inconvenience. I really like my job and I do hope I'll be allowed to return to work afterwards...again, fingers crossed!

I'm so touched by all of you, thanks you so much!

Hi Chy, I did the clear blue test at the end of last week and had a similar looking result. The line coming down to make the minus sign a positive sign is most important though and does mean that you are 99% positively pregnant! Good luck with your pregnancy - it is a bit unbelievable at this early stage I agree!!

Thank you for the reassurance Sam100, congrats to you too! Do you think I should break the news to my boss tomorrow or wait till after my appt. with the doctor on Tuesday?

Congrats Chy i've been off line as i was sick so coming in a little late on this thread but i too had the faintest of a positive wwhen we did our test we were so upset thinking it was a negative my Hubby took the day off work but like yourself had been trying for so long and still held onto a glimmer of hope that the blood test would show a positive and it did we were so shocked and kept asking the Dr if i could be wrong! Just did want to be told we were finally pregnant if we weren't. I'm very happy for you it is still ver surreal for us and if it was for the fact that my boobs and tummy are getting bigger we would still have trouble beliving it.

If you haven't already wait till after your Dr's appoinment to tell your boss not even any need to tell her straight away even my friend waited till a couple of months before she told her boss, each to their own.

But congrats again and all the best.
