Public Hospitals Query

Anybody out there know if the public hospitals will screen for Downs (blood tests, nuchal scan)?

Did anybody who went public manage to get any sleep in the public ward?!

And...will they listen to you if you tell them NO episiotomy?

Many thanks all.

I delivered at Queen Mary 2 years ago. They were awful to put a very long story short.

Guess everyone has different experiences but I would NEVER advise anyone to have thier baby there. However, I am sure there are many other good public Hospitals.

Thanks everybody, I am actually considering the Pamela Youde because I am miles away from the Queen Mary so if anyone has any specific experience of what it's like there that would be great.

BTW, am I wrong to assume you can have an epidural in a public hospital?

had my first in mathilda. and only because you pay thousands of dollars doens't mean you are getting what you are asking for. i had NO midwife with me when my daughter came! I didn't get the epidural as dr gosh (he might be a good doctir, but sorry he has lost with me) said I won't need one-cause I am strong and blabla..! and waiting wise, as one of the others wrote, you have to wait with the private doctors as well.

this time I'll have the baby in QMH and hope I'll get my "birth experience" WITH an epidural!!
