Having a D&C..which hospital and what cost?

Hi,


I was just told yesterday by my doctor that I'm going to have a miscarriage. I have a 10 month old baby but i found myself devastated.


Now with all this emotions going around, i need some advice on where to go for a D&C. My insurance doesnt cover it and my doctor's fee is $9000 and she recommends Matilda.


Please, can anyone give me some tips. What about Queen Mary?

Thanks for the quick response. I really appreciate that. How much did you pay for Matida including doctor's fee? And how long did you get to stay there?


I am going to a private doctor and quite new in Hong Kong so I am actually at a lost here. Thank you.

Hi Lynne, I was told Matilda costs around 13,000. Its quite expensive for me for this procedure. Anyway, I will see my doctor later and hopefully i will get more info. Thanks

I think it costs around HKD2K. You may have to wait a week or so to have the op though.


And yes, Matilda does cost that much.

so sorry for your loss, I also suffered a miscarriage late last year and although I had some insurance for doctors visits, I had no hospital cover. I went to A&E at QMH where they referred me to the pregnancy clinic the next day. I was admitted straight away and was given the choice of medical management or a d&c. I chose the D&C and the op was done the next day. They usually use a local anaesthetic but you can opt for general, but I chose local and was discharged later the same day. It is pretty basic care but cost me HK$100 in total. I think you have every right to feel upset too,All the best to you and so sorry again.

Thanks the tips and I'm also sorry for your loss. I still feel like I'm just in a dream but today, I had another scan and still, no heart beat...I opted for D&C and will do it either at the fam clinic that blitzing recommended or at QMH. I hope you have recuperated well and feeling better. My thoughts are with you too.

thanks for your reply, although my loss was really difficult it is getting easier and I want to encourage you if you want to try again. I had my period 5 weeks after my d&c and I got pregnant again on the first cycle. I am now 17 weeks and everything seemsto be going well.
