Does anyone know what price I could expect to pay for a one bedroom apartment in this area? I have been offered a commercial office (to be renovated inot a bedsitter) for 10,000HKD but I feel it a bit risky and quite expensive as it is combined bedroom/lounge. What do people think? Any advise or referals to good agent would be appreciated. E

Hi,
I wouldn't go for the commercial office space if I were you, it is risky. Unless the landlord has Government approval to change the use to residential - which is unlikely - you could get kicked out. You haven't said what size - 10K might not be expensive if it's large. I live in Sai Ying Pun which is further west than Sheung Wan, and I've seen places advertised there for around 7K or 8K but they're mostly only about 500 sq ft. The agent I used when I bought my place was Hang Fung Property, speak to Tom or Catherine, 9057-3410. You could also try Leslie of Whole Life Property, 3106-2437. If you call them, it would be very nice if you could mention that Linda of Queens Property recommended them. Thanks and good luck!

Linda thanks so much for information. have been out to Tom's and he was very helpful (passed on your name to him). Found a place at Connanught Court but the only problem is I am not sure how I would get to Central from there and also Kowloon Tong for work. Could be a bit of hike! Anyway thanks again.

Hi,
Tom knows me but thanks for mentioning my name, it's just a way for me to get brownie points!
I've never heard of Connaught Court but assume it's on Connaught Road? There are buses that go along there to Kowloon side. Google for Kowloon Motor Bus, New World First Bus and Citybus, they have route searches on their websites. Or they may go along Des Voeux Road. Other alternative is get a bus to Central, then the MTR to Kowloon Tong. I live near Western Street and it takes between 15 and 25 minutes to get to Central, depending on the traffic - quicker before 10.00 am as no lorries can park on the side of the road.
