Gold Coast or Discovery Bay

Hi


We are a young couple and will have a newborn with us when we move to Hong Kong early in 2007. We can't decide whether we prefer Gold Coast or Discovery Bay. One of us will work in Wanchai and the other in TST. Gold Coast has better shuttle services - we think. Any thoughts welcome.

each has its own merits. gold coast has a direct shuttle bus to TST that takes about 25mins, and a direct shuttle bus to Wan Chai that takes between 30-40mins depending on traffic.

We have a baby and we live at the Gold Coast. They organise free playgroups three times a week for mums and bubs. There is also an option of a paid playgroup twice a week. We love it there. It's family friendly. Heaps of kids around.

Thanks for that. Spockey - have you found a good international quality medical facility close by for yourself and the baby? Last I was there the medical clinic at the GC shopping mall didn't look too appealing.

And do you a have a car? Is one necessary at GC?

We see someone in Tsuen Wan. He is a local doctor but he speaks good English and he has had some training in Australia. We are an Austalian family. Our bub has been seeing him for shots, colds etc. Our PD is in Central. He is English. But there has been no need to see him as our GP in Tsuen Wan is great. There is a mum and bubs health clinic in Tuen Mun that an expat mum has told me is good too. There are also several PDs there. Local PDs and GPs are just as good provided you find one that speaks good English.


I agree that the Medical Clinic at the GC mall is terrible. We've used him once and have found him unsuitable for our needs.


We do not have a car. It's not necessary at the GC as it's well connected.
