Hi there,
We are thinking about moving to Ocean Shores with our 14 months old son, but we still have some questions...
How is the commuting to Central in the morning & evening?
Are there kindergartens around? Any mother and baby groups?
How long does it take to get to the airport?
Is it very crowded by the residents on the weekend?
Somebody mentioned that the area is very humid (compared to other areas in HK?, is it true?
Any english cinemas near by?
Any wet markets around?
How is the shopping center at Tiu Keng Leng MTR station?
....
So far we have lived close to Sheung Wan on HK island, so I am scared, that Ocean Shores is too quiet and just too far away. Sorry, many questions ... but moving in HK is not easy, having all these choices ...
Thanks a lot!

I think many questions could be answered if you went to Tseung Kwan O and looked around yourself. There are many eager real estate agents at the Tiu Keng Leng MTR station who would happily show you Metrotown and Ocean Shores.
The commute depends on the time and means. About 25 mins by MTR. By car/taxi, it is also an easy drive over the hill to the tunnel to HK Island, then depends on traffic.
Kindergartens: local, yes. international, not in the immediate neighbourhood, but lots of school buses coming and going, so check with your choice of kindy. There are international Ks at Lam Tin.
Airport: again depends on method of transport and time of day: car/taxi 35 - 50 mins; MTR to Airport Express: 25 mins plus AE time; MTR to Lam Tin MTR then Airport bus: 1 hour.
Crowded: no - there are an incredible number of play areas, swimming pools, and a huge clubhouse. It is a GREAT place for kids.
Humidity; This is said about "central" TKO because of all the tall buildings. Friends report a nice breeze off the ocean at OS.
"English cinemas": the cinema at APM (Kwun Tong MTR) has some English showings, Telford Plaza (Kowloon Bay MTR) used to have English showings (I think it's being renovated now??) 20 mins by MTR to Kowloon Tong cinema.
Wet market: an easy walk through the new Metrotown shopping centre to Choi Ming.
Shopping centre: like every other small sc in HK. Nothing special.
"too quiet" - not sure what you mean. For many people, that would be a good thing!

Thank you very much for all the information ;-)
Of course we went to Tiu Keng Leng and had a look at both Metrotown & Ocean Shores, but (perhaps we were unlucky) the property agent that showed us around was nice, but didn t speak English very well, so a lot of our questions remained unanswered. We ll head for Tiu Keng Leng tomorrow again, we liked it & we ll try to rent a flat. Thanks again
