Looking for a place in HKG with an easy commute to TST, with 3br and good for families. Have 2 boys, ages 8 & 4. Would like to spend $35-$45k. Also any international school recommendations? Company is paying tuition. Would like either American or Canadian school. Better air quality is a plus since kids are asthmatic.

The Canadian school is in Aberdeen on HK Island. There are some families that commute from CWB, but it is a long trek by bus; almost 1 hr each way.

There is the American International school in Kowloon Tong. It is the American/ international school closest to TST. There is also a new development in Hung Hom, called Harbourfront Horizon. It is almost like a hotel with the services they provide. The flats are fully furnished as well, with lots of different facilities and it is facing the water. They have a shuttle bus that runs from the residence to TST mtr.

Hope it is useful

We work in East Tsim Sha Tsui and lived in Hong Lok Yuen closed to Tai Po. We need something like 45min to go to office by car and 1h by train (rush hours).

There is an international school in Hong Lok Yuen but English: www.hlyis.edu.hk

We love Hong Lok Yuen.

As mentioned previously, it would be advisable to find a school place first then decide where you are going to live. There are no longer enough school places for children in the English speaking/International schools. You mentioned that your children are asmatic, it may not be my place to say this, but do you think you should be bringing asmatic children to Hong Kong? The air pollution is extremely bad and a couple of weeks ago, we experienced the worst air pollution ever. Many International Schools cancelled Sports Days, Swimming Galas, all outdoor sports activities. Many primary schools kept would not allow the children out during break times, all because the pollution was so so so bad. It is a sad day when it comes to this. My advice to you is think carefully before exposing your asmatic children to this sort of pollution.

You may also want to post on the "Moms & Dads' forum about schools and on M&D and 'Medical' about kids with asthma in HK.

You may want to check the following link, regarding your children's asthma.

We live on HK Island and our children's school is in an area where the air is relatively less polluted, according to the data. Nevertheless, the school has highlighted the potential respiratory problems linked to the air pollution and given the parents the option of having their children kept inside on heavily polluted days.
