Can anyone give me an idea of how much it would be likely to cost to do a full but simple renovation of a whole village house? It would need new partition walls, floors, kitchen and poss 3 bathrooms etc. I know that it is impossible to give an accurate figure but just a rough idea of starting prices would be a great help. Also, any tips on the most efficient way to go about this e.g. to appoint a contractor for whole job, do it bit by bit or to hire a designer?
Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate that the cost will vary massively depending on the materials chosen etc, but that makes me feel much happier about the idea than the $1-2m quoted by some of my friends!

It's going to cost more if you add additional electrical and piping works as many village houses are pretty old.

Great reno info MF! How did you find your tradesman - referral?

If building a village-style house is so cheap, how can a resident with a permanent ID do this? Who do you have to go to to get the land, planning permission, etc?

saikunger, how long are you expecting the renovation time to take for all that work? And how do you secure that the work is done correctly - does it come with a guarantee?
