Loft plans are not typically a good idea for Hong Kong. AC is required for nearly 9 months out of the year, and it would be cost prohibitive to cool the entire place. Secondly, most loft style apartments are in industrial buildings, which in Hong Kong is nearly always illegal due to zoning permissions.
If you are thinking of turning your typical hk residential flat into loft style, you may face logistical problems due to structural prohibitions on knocking walls down.
