My wife is having complications from her pregnancy and we will have to relocate from Shanghai to Hong Kong for about 3 months starting in early June. We have been advised to stay close to Queen Mary Hospital where we will deliver.
Does anyone have any advice on where to stay? We would like to have a furnished 2 bedroom apartment. I haven't found any serviced apartments in the area. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You could consider the brand new 338 serviced apts in Sheung Wan, about 10 minutes/HK$40 from Queen Mary by taxi.

If money is no object/you have a very generous employer, you could also consider the following, which are run by Four Seasons and part of the IFC2 complex:

Both have the advantage that they are on the Queen Mary side of Central, so you don't need to endure Central's traffic to get to QM.
You might also be lucky and find a break-lease at either the Belcher's or Cyberport. Both are new and fairly high end large developments about 5 minutes taxi to QMH (but not serviced).

Thanks, Burgundy.
I found quite a few serviced apartments online (like 338) but most of them are a bit small or too far from Queen Mary. We are hoping to have a 2 bedroom so that we can always have a friend stay with my wife in case there is an emergency.
I take it that we should consider Sheung Wan and Western Mid-Levels as well as Pokfulam. Are there any other areas that would be within 10 minutes of Queen Mary in an emergency? (Kennedy Town, Aberdeen?).
Also, is there a residence named Cyberport, or should we look at something like Bel-Air?
Thanks again.

Yes, Bel-Air is one phase of Cyberport.
In Kennedy Town, Manhattan Heights has some serviced apartments. But it's not the smartest part of town.
Btw, does your wife definitely want to give birth at QMH? I ask because Matilda (a top private hospital on the Peak) has serviced two-bedroomed apartments actually within its grounds. See http://www.matilda.org/eng/onsite/index.php

We originally looked at Matilda, but my wife has a high-risk pregnancy that might require a NICU and prolonged prenatal hospitalization. Therefore, we arranged to see the high-risk specialist at Queen Mary.
Thanks a lot for your help. We really appreciate the local knowledge.

There is the Le Meridien Hotel at Cyberport.

Ask about monthly rates.
More expensive, but there will be help if required and no need for your wife to battle through the local supermarkets...

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have been looking at a few of the hotels including Le Meridien for longterm stays, and it looks promising.
Abitnaive - yes, we would love to hear about your experiences. I'll start a new thread for us in the Pregnancy section...

One last suggestion if you're considering hotels. This international class hotel is in an "unprepossessing"(!) but v convenient location.

It's brand new and 5 minutes from QMH and 8 mins from Central by taxi. Rooms are fine; you would pay three times the rates for the same quality room in Central. If you scroll down to "Long Stay", you'll see you can get a harbour view suite for HK$18,800/month. Obviously not in the same league as Le Meridien, but a possibility if your budget doesn't stretch to the latter.

I also suggest Le Meriden at Cyberport. There are restaurants, movie theaters, a grocery store (Park n'Shop), salons, and has a very soothing ambience and spectacular harbor views. On top of which it is only 5 minutes from Queen Mary Hospital.

We are going to lease out our apartment in ApLeiChau and we can consider short lease(new development with club house facilities about 10 mins to QMH.) It's used to be a 2 bedroom unit but we have converted it into a one bedroom apartment. If you are interested, I can pm you more details.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. We ended up staying for a week at the Novotel Century Harbourview - only 500RMB per night. The (excellent) high-risk obstetrician at Queen Mary recommended that my wife be admitted to the hospital, but then her ultrasound showed that her condition had resolved. Praise the Lord, we were demoted back to low-risk territory! We have since left HK. The only disappointment was that we didn't get to stay there for a few months!
