Leaving Job & Visa Question

Hi there,

I left my job around a month ago. I understand an employer has an obligation to inform HK immigration when an employee leaves. I have learnt my employer did not inform immigration, or is yet to do so.

I also understand from friends that my HK ID card is still valid and I am able to stay in HK up to the expiry date of the ID card. So long as I don't work in HK without formal approval from immigration to take up another position. Is this correct?

At this stage I don't plan to leave HK. Could someone please advise me as to the proper procedures and options I have if I do not work, and can I come and go from HK until my ID card expires?

Many thanks in advance!

You can search old threads regarding this question, it has been discussed many times.

Your HKID card never expires, your visa does. You can stay in HK until the expiry of your visa and you can leave HK and enter again using the same. That much I can remember from those threads.
