Hi, I know this thread is old but I am just hoping to get some answers too.

I am also Indonesian with no Cantonese or elementary Pu Tong Hua, I do graphic design. My husband is working here and we just moved from Singapore where I had no problem found a job.

Many companies are expecting I can speak/ write Cantonese and Chinese. I have looked for a job in 2 months and had 3 interviews but had no luck so far :(

Seems like learning Cantonese is the best way to go? The expats saying who never have to speak Cantonese for work is presumably Caucasian in international company only... or like my sister who has worked as airline stewardess who lived here for 8 years with no Cantonese at all.
